A 6ft by 4ft Vibrating Screen Box

This image was created as part of my final year project which constituted 20% of my degree. The project was titled ‘Modified Design of a 12ft by 4ft Vibrating Screen Box’, and involved analysing the dynamics exhibited in the smaller 6ft by 4ft box and adjusting the governing parameters in the larger box so that the two had similar performance figures. This project was completed with excellent results for both myself and Conarken Engineering Limited (refer to my year in industry detailed in the CV section).

The 3d-geometry was created in AutoCAD r13 so that varied mass properties could be calculated accurately. Materials and lighting were added to the scene and AutoCAD’s render-engine used to bring the image along a stage from simple wireframe to solid. The hi-res TIFF image was then loaded into Adobe PhotoShop 4 and a number of Difference Clouds were applied to improve the steel-plate look. A large quantity of lighting effects were also used as well as a couple of Lens Flares to finish the image.
