Pine Room This image was created using only AutoCAD r14. The 3d geometry was created using all of the possible surfaces within the program. The main aim of this small project was to find how the 3 different types of render engines differ within AutoCAD (Render, Photo Real and Photo Raytrace). I knew that the Photo Raytrace took the longest and so, I assumed that it was the best but I did not understand why. By comparing the 3 final renders it became clear how they differed. The scene contains only 2 lights, a Spot Light (in the lamp of the desk) and a dull Omni light (directly above the scene). When using the Photo Raytrace render engine, the Spot Light resulted in crisp shadows on the walls and floor (from the banister and desktop respectively). The Photo Real and Render engines failed to generate such effects. During this project, I also discovered the Facetres command which now greatly sharpens my final rendered images but also increases render time dramatically. |
